It was good, but wasn’t that great of a series that people make it out to be. The first half was good, but it felt a bit dragged afterwards in the second half. :eyes:

Why I Rage

I felt it was too cheesy and illogical. Yes, it is about romance I agree, but even so, things went quite downhill with the second half. All Asuna did was play the damsel in distress and it was all hero saving the princess thing. Cliched as hell. Nothing unique, nothing new.

Add to it all that stuff about the other ladies including his own sister falling for him… Well, it is all otaku pandering. Add in an incest twist, and you are sure to get viewers. Did it help the story? None.

The Black Swordsman Problem

The characters aren’t anything special either. Kirito is another self-insert super power character, a Gary Stu. Asuna is nothing but a simple romance interest. Someone who originally didn’t play any games, becomes so strong in the game… then she goes on to play the damsel in distress in second half? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Overall, it was nice and tracingly excellent at some moments, but to be honest, I have seen better stuff. One of the most hyped series.
