Ghost in the Shell: The Cyberpunk Bible
This is sci-fi at its very best. A movie of epic stature of its era, and one of those that have aged gracefully over time. :eyes:
The Philosophy of the Ghost
The concept, the idea… the amalgam of virtual reality, the technology… everything is so well placed. The concept of cybernetics, and the futuristic view that the series withholds, along with real concerns over what actually defines reality and life itself. The theme is beautifully summarized in Major Kusanagi’s conversation with Batou at the lake.
Animation That Defined the Era
The animation is top notch considering the time at which it was produced, no CG effect… everything hand drawn, and the beautiful cell animation really shows. At one moment you will see towering buildings and futuristic night time setting, then the show moves on to make you view the street littered with garbage.
Overall, the movie is awesome. A definite must-watch for any sci-fi fan. And it’s an epic start to the epic franchise that it creates later.
