Ergo Proxy: Deep Philosophy or Just Confusing?
This was a really good mystery. Sci-fi. Awesome. :eyes:
The Good: Why It Clicked
The story was a strong point of the show. The touch of mystery, thriller, and hint of supernatural all along with the sci-fi part is really well done. I was really compelled to watch the next episode every time. Quite a good rendition of the cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic sci-fi genre.
The Characters (and Eyeliner)
If Re-l Mayer isn’t someone to take note of, then I don’t know who is. Her character was really good. Strong, level-headed. And at this point, I would take some liberty to say that those blue eyeliners were really sexy and she reminded me of Major from Ghost in the Shell.
Vincent, on the other hand, was a somewhat typical “antagonist within protagonist”, but it was okay… a well-handled cliche.
The “But”
There are some apparently random and seemingly filler episodes that are spread throughout… and it’s a bit unfortunate to say that I didn’t really come to like those episodes as much as the other episodes that relate to the overall plot. It just felt jarring, and almost a distraction.
Overall, a top-notch sci-fi/mystery/thriller… Exceptional to watch with a really good story. Maybe not something of the extraordinary level set by Ghost in the Shell in its genre, but definitely a really good watch.
