Clannad After Story: Prepare to Cry Your Eyes Out
Boring. I will be particularly blunt and say that I did not like Clannad, and almost forced my way through the episodes. :eyes:
The Rant
It was too cheesy, too much forced sentimentality, that didn’t take me anywhere. It was truckloads of moe with each girl, in one or the other way, pining over the main guy. The story is shallow, normal romance undertone with awkward storylines.
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
The first season is baseless. Almost another moe rom-com high school drama. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. It was pointless to actually watch it, and the only reason it can be watched is because of After Story.
After Story? More Like After Thought
After Story fares a bit better, coming out from that high school setting, but guess what? The female lead will still attend high school because she didn’t pass due to illness. And did I say the aforementioned illness is practically a generated plot device, an excuse, nothing else?
Then they both get married, and you get a married couple… an utterly failed attempt of the show trying to make characters adults or mature. Obviously, emotional aspect and escapism at its height. Self-insert here.
Overall, Clannad was literally like an empty glass filled with sugar cubes, while I was forced to drink non-existent water from the glass, all the while choking on those sugar cubes. This definitely isn’t a show for me.
I will definitely remain steadfast and hold true to my opinion that Clannad was neither good, nor enjoyable.
